Sow Rate
1 x 500g pack is designed to sow 30m2.
1 x 250g pack will sow 15m2.
Native grasses and plants are slower than introduced species to establish as they will naturally stagger their germination to take advantage of varying weather conditions. A higher sow rate would provide quicker coverage. If establishment times are not an issue and the threat of competition from introduced species is minimal then a lower sowing rate can be used.
Best Time to Sow
Autumn is the prime time to sow most native Australian species, so they can take advantage of lower temperatures and natural rainfall.
If irrigation is available, sowing can be year round.
Transform your streetscape with a resilient, flowering Australian meadow.
Our Native Grassy Meadow Mix is a professionally curated blend of 12 indigenous grasses and wildflowers (forbs), specifically engineered to thrive in the high-exposure conditions of Australian road reserves.
A 500g pack is designed for a 30m2 area (the mean size of a standard suburban nature strip), so 1kg will sow 60m2, providing a premium, high-density sowing rate. By blending the mowable, evergreen performance of Griffin™ Weeping Grass with iconic "Billy Buttons," "Bluebells," and a touch of structural Kangaroo Grass, this mix creates a low-profile, "line-of-sight" compliant landscape that stays beautiful from the dry heat of Adelaide to the frosts of Melbourne.
Why Choose This Blend?
- National Compatibility: A versatile selection of species that thrive across Australian "cool-temperate" and "mediterranean" climates.
- Mowable & Evergreen: Powered by Microlaena stipoides (Griffin™), a native grass bred to maintain a green "mat" year-round and withstand regular foot traffic and occasional mowing.
- Council Compliant: Every species in this mix has a natural growth habit between 10cm and 50cm ensuring your garden meets the visibility and safety bylaws of local councils nationwide.
- Biodiversity Booster: Designed to create a vital "pollinator corridor," providing nectar and habitat for native bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects.
- Climate Resilient: Once established, these indigenous species require significantly less water than traditional Kikuyu, Buffalo, or Couch lawns.
- Optimized for Success: Pre-blended with 35% Premium Vermiculite to ensure even distribution of tiny seeds and improved moisture retention during the critical germination phase.
